Powder

Powder is a makeup product used to set other makeup in place so it doesn't move around or wear off quickly. It can also be used to absorb oil on the skin to remove shine and create a smooth, matte appearance.

Powders come in a loose or pressed form that will give slightly different results. Loose powders allow you to apply a minimal, light dusting to any area of the face, while pressed powders are more concentrated.

Common Formulas

Loose powders come in a jar-like container that has a 'sifter' to dispense only a small amount of product onto your brush. Pressed powders come in a mirrored compact. Powders can be translucent or have color added to them to work with your skintone.

Pro Tip

Pressed powders are less messy than loose powders, so they are ideal for tossing in your purse! If you still like the lightweight effect of using a losse powder, just use a powder brush to apply the pressed powder rather than the sponge it comes with.
